Previous Engagements

In addition to smiles and laughter, I seem to have also received a cold from the charming 4th graders 

at Ridge View Elementary School where I spoke for Career Day last week.

To entertain myself during my sick day, I sat on the couch and did sketches 

of all my recently engaged friends and their charming fiancés.

Sleeping Sweeney

A just-for-fun, Disney inspired cartoon I drew in honor of my best friend Alex Ward and his most recent success, starring as Anthony in the Clarence Brown Theatre production of Sweeney Todd. His 'promising performance' was noted by the lovely and fabulous Mary Costa  (voice of Disney's Sleeping Beauty), whom Alex had the immense pleasure of meeting after one of his shows. So proud of you, Alex!

A very rough, unfinished, first trial run using some new Photoshop tips a friend of mine kindly shared with me today.

Wedding Belles

A very close friend of mine got married this weekend, and I had told the girls that if time permitted, I would draw caricatures of them before the ceremony. Well, as weddings are hectic by nature, that didn't end up working out. Therefore, in honor of a lovely weekend with new and old friends, I decided to sketch us all anyway.

What better way to celebrate 3 different birthdays at one giant birthday bash than to put cartoons of them on their cakes? I was approached by a friend of mine to help with this endeavor, and here are the results. A fun and soon to be delicious project!

Here are some holiday smiles I've been working on recently. I can't post a lot of my current stuff, because it's secret Santa's elf type business. (But these two were given as early gifts, so we're in the clear).

Caricatures #2

I work both from life as well as photographs. I only just started drawing caricatures within the last year or so, and it has been an absolute privilege to be invited to and work at numerous local events, festivals and even private parties. I always have a blast doing these and getting to know the people I'm drawing. (That being said, if you ever sit for me, I expect to be entertained, so please come with your best stories.)
